DAVE GETZ
CrossFit Coach
The first time I tried CrossFit was in the winter of 2013. I remember a friend of mine convinced me to do a Free Into Class. At that time all I was doing was the classic gym lifting (leg day, chest day, shoulder day etc). I said yes, and we tried it out. It was three rounds of 500m row, 20 sit ups, and 10 pull ups. The coach briefed us and I remember thinking “that’s it?”. That same workout made me sore for a week and kicked my butt in the process, but I loved it! I had never pushed that hard in a workout before and it was the best feeling ever.
I CrossFit because… the community and the challenge. The community is so close and everyone is always encouraging and will continually push you to get one more repetition. Also everyday you walk in the door there’s a new challenge and I love that!
I coach because… I want to have a positive influence on people’s lives. Nothing is more exciting than seeing someone achieve a goal they’ve been working towards.
