22 years. Not sure there really needs to be much explanation about why we’re doing a tribute workout today. This is just a guess, but anyone who was at least 10 years old at the time more than likely remembers where they were, what they were doing, and probably has a very vivid memory of that day to some degree. No one had smartphones, the internet wasn’t what it is today, and we were significantly leas connected. But when it happened the feeling was that everyone stopped to what they were doing to be in the moment. Huddled around a television or radio. Watching and listening to any broadcast covering the event in disbelief at what had happened. I remember thinking who? Why? How could someone pull this off? The reality was people had died, more people were going to die, and people were going to lose fathers, mothers, siblings, sons, daughters, friends, etc. And they had done nothing more than board a plane, or go about their normal routine of going to work that day. What is so tragic and sad is that there were people who who couldn’t get out, people who jumped, and first responders who sacrificed their own life to save others. While it still is the worst tragedy of our time, it’s a great feeling to know that there are some amazing people out there who would give up their life for someone else. If you have some time today check out the link. I share the same video every year about the story of one younger man who saved a group of people that morning and sacrificed his own life. In regards to the workout here are the numbers: Teams of 2: two towers were hit. 9/11/2001: The date. 4 Rounds: there were 4 planes that crashed, both towers, the Pentagon, and one in a field in Pennsylvania. 2977: total people killed that day: World Trade Center: 2753; 343 were firefighters; The Pentagon: 184; Pennsylvania: 40. When the workout gets hard just remember that you get to workout.
