A quick word on Saturday’s event, “CrossFit For Hope”:
This year, CrossFit HQ has partnered up with St. Jude in an attempt to raise 1.7 million dollars. This number is particularly relevant for St. Jude, as it represents the average cost for 24 hours of operating expenses. Around the world, CrossFit gyms and CrossFit athletes are rallying on behalf of St. Jude and the many children who receive medical attention at their hospitals completely free of charge. CrossFit St. Paul and CrossFit Minneapolis are among that community of fundraising affiliates. This Saturday, June 9th, we will be cancelling all classes, save for one 11:00 am class at CrossFit St. Paul (9am CF Kids and 10am intro are still on). That class will feature a workout created by CrossFit HQ which will finalize the fundraising effort. Some athletes have found people to pledge money for each completed repetition. Others have simply donated a sum of cash for the cause. Others still have donated but plan to not participate in Saturday’s workout. Whichever you might be, one thing is critical, that you do donate. Our gym goal is $5,000 dollars, a reasonable number given the size of our community. In addition to the basic fundraising options, we are also offering raffle tickets for $20 dollars. The raffle includes a number of awesome prizes including gift cards to Brasa Rotisserie, a free massage from LIFT therapy, haircuts from 526 Salon, a teeth whitening treatment from Chalet Dental, and a substantial package of Stronger, Faster, Healthier supplements.
As a large CrossFit Community with two affiliates, we do our best to cancel classes as infrequently as possible. We consider it absolutely critical for the success of our business to offer a robust and ever growing schedule, but among the most important elements of any successful CrossFit affiliate lies the sense of community and camaraderie which can only be gained through activities such as CrossFit For Hope. We apologize to those of you who won’t be able to attend a class on Saturday, and who hoped to, and we hope you understand our reasoning for canceling classes.
Ladies and gentleman, please take a moment to follow the link on the side of our site and donate a few dollars for a very, very good cause.
