Olympic lifting focus session is this Wednesday @ 7pm with Jake Rubash. This is a great chance to practice and learn the olympic lifts with a great coach outside of the confines of regular classes!
Upcoming Fundamentals Classes (6 small group classes plus 2 weeks of unlimited group classes):
Mon/Wed/Fri @ 9am, starts May 17 – 3 SPOTS LEFT
Mon/Wed/Fri @ 6pm, starts May 24 – 4 SPOTS LEFT
As many rounds as you can do in 3 minutes of:
3 Power cleans (135#/95#)
6 pushups
9 squats
Rest 1 minute between rounds for 5 cycles. Post number of rounds completed per cycle and total to comments.
May’s squat challenge is heating up – highest reps in 2 minutes is currently at 107 from Stephanie C (sorry Dave, you have to have a witness for it to be legit). Remember you can repeat the challenge as many times as you want before the end of the month!
The NY Times Wellness blog lists a bunch of creative smoothie recipes. I’m a big fan of adding nut butters to smoothies to add flavor and fat (I add a large amount because I need a lot of fat in my diet, some people might not need as much, but a little goes long way). The only recommendation I’ll make regarding smoothies is that people trying to lose weight should be careful not to include too much fruit in them, as it’s easy to get way too much sugar, and thus fat storing insulin spikes, in a fruit smoothie.
