The nomenclature of the Jerk can sometimes confuse people. Here at CFSP when we say “Jerk” we mean the split jerk done in Olympic Lifting, and when we say “Push Jerk” we mean the version of the jerk where you land in a partial squat position.
Robb Wolf discusses a reader’s recent experiment with an extremely low carb diet and CrossFitting. The issue of amount of carbs necessary for CrossFitters has become somewhat controversial lately…CrossFit’s official position is that the Zone Diet provides the optimal amount of Protein and Carbs, while most people who follow the Paleo way of eating find that the amount of carbs required in the Zone are not only difficult to eat, but are unnecessary for performance. There is no right answer of course, as every single person has different dietary requirements, and the best way to find the right macronutrient ratios is to pick one way of eating, stick with it for 3-4 weeks, note how your perform/feel/sleep/think, and then change 1 thing and repeat. Most people don’t have the discipline to commit to something like this unfortunately, and never discover what their optimal way of eating is. I can say from personal experience, however, that learning exactly how certain foods affect your body is extremely liberating and allows you to find a healthy balance between improving health and enjoying delicious foods from time to time.
